The Gretchen S. Leming Memorial Scholarship Fund
In January 2021, we lost our dear friend, Gretchen Schur Leming. Gretchen was an avid musician and singer throughout her life, singing in church choirs, school choirs, and the Moravian College Choir where she honed her craft and grew to love performing. She was active in many local groups and we are so glad that she chose our little group so many years ago. Shortly after joining, Gretchen quickly became the foundation of the Alto section - always first to offer a friendly hello, a ready hand, and a beautiful voice when needed. We could always count on her to lift the Chorale and its mission with boundless energy and a smile. We hope that she found as much joy in us, as we did in her. Though she will be deeply missed, her voice will continue to ring strong and bright in our memories.

The Chorale is honored to establish The Gretchen S. Leming Memorial scholarship fund to aid musicians pursue their love for choral music with the Chorale based on their interests rather than finances. As noted in Gretchen's obituary, memorial donations may be made in Gretchen’s name to the Mystic River Chorale, PO Box 341, Mystic, CT 06355.

Please enjoy this audio clip on Youtube of Gretchen performing "Not Getting Married", by Stephen Sondheim. She stole the show, giving the performance the proper amount of diction and hysteria….all while imploring the audience in her wedding dress.
