Concert Information
The Mystic River Chorale invites you to honor memory and find strength through the
resilience of the human spirit through two deeply emotional works.
The Requiem, written by Maurice Duruflé in 1947, balances the darkness of grief and
loss with the warmth of peace. This piece reflects on the devastation following World
War II, offering moments of both intensity and solace. With soaring harmonies and
chant-like meditation, this reflective work leaves the listener with a sense of tranquility.
Out of the Ashes of the Holocaust, written by Joshua Fishbein in 2021, takes us on a
journey from horror to hope. Fishbein reminds us all what it means to come together in
difficult times. This piece chronicles Fishbein’s family’s experience of one of the darkest
times in human history, concluding with a message of survival and dreaming of a better
world.
